Every student begins with the basics, warmups, exercises, and fundamentals are the building blocks of music and must always be reviewed in order to continue progressing. For beginning students, I use the lesson books they are working on in school in order to help them as they work with their teacher. I also introduce exercises, and solos. For beginning folk/pop guitar students I use the Hal Leonard Guitar Method. For Classical guitar I use a combination of various resources, including Segovia scales, Sor studies, Guilianni right-hand studies and Frederick Noad method books. I definitely encourage students to work towards performance of the music they are working on, and try to schedule recital/performance opportunities as students deveope and gain mastery over their material. I always try to maintain a healthy balance between keeping the student working on music that challenges them,and advances their technique, with the need to have fun and enjoy the playing of a musical instrument as a means of entertainment and relaxation. I'm a highly passionate music teacher who loves with working with students off all different ages. At 15 years old I had the privilege to study with world class concert pianist the summer of 2016 at an Intensive program. Being mentored by alumni of Juilliard, Oberlin Conservatory, and Curtis Institute, allowed me to really stay focused on my musical studies and inspired me in the best way possible.
