My teaching experience began in college. I quickly realized that I most enjoyed helping people on an individual basis. In addition to performing in myriad musical idioms, I have made a career of private teaching, having conducted over 26,000 lessons since 2001. My performance experience weaves its way into many lessons, as I am able to share “real-life” experiences about the practicality of the material that we study. I graduated from Westminster Choir College with a BM in Music Education, a minor in Musical Theater, and a Masters of Arts in Teaching. My performance and education career began as early as my freshman year of college. I have been fortunate to perform over 1,800 professional commitments in my career as well as teaching roughly 25 students. Some performance highlights of my career have been performing on four national tours, playing two contracts with the Hershey Park band, recording with different artists, and of course performing with the Marine Corps and the Air Force bands. I'm a big believer in setting small but achievable goals. I also believe that achieving technical mastery of an instrument is a simple process of building habits. Some students may want to be pushed hard and challenged at every turn. Other students may not respond so well to such an approach so a different pace and style is required. It all depends on the student but in general I think a friendly smile and warm demeanor create a comfortable environment for the student to ask questions and perform their best each time I see them. I am a motivated and extremely personable music teacher with years of classroom and private lesson experience. I have been playing the trumpet for almost 20 years. I studied with Joe Perrino and Dr. Gary Feinberg, both graduates of Carnegie Mellon University. I hold a bachelor's degree in Music Education with a concentration in trumpet from The College of New Jersey and a bachelor's degree in Music Industry with a double concentration in business and technology from Rowan University.
