I hope to instill a joy and passion for music in my students. Through our work on fundamentals and etudes they will learn the skills they need to truly express themselves when they perform. I always try to ask the student what the scene of a movie would be if they are playing the soundtrack, and get them to convey that when they play. My goal is to motivate the students by modeling great playing for them, and by giving them music that excites them! Read More

I first started teaching private lessons on a routine basis starting in 2016 while I was in school. Having finished my degree, I currently teach full time with a studio of over 30 students in grades 5 through 12. I have learned an incredible amount from teaching students how to play the trumpet, I tell many of my students that I have learned just as much from them as they have from me. I still take private lessons from teachers around the central Texas area and beyond when I can work it into my schedule so that I can keep learning and passing on whatever I learn to my students. In general and for any subject or instrument that I teach It is very important since the beginning to make an evaluation of skills and that provide me the way to do a individual learning project. Evaluation use to be continuously and in every class I take note about contents, progress and observations. My program pretends in every cases to form a professional musician although if students just want to strengthen any technical or musical aspect, learn an specific music style or musical work there will be accepted as well. For beginner students, I often use the Essential Elements series, or a similar book. Work on fundamentals should be regular. Some of the books I like to use for this are: Clarke, Schlossberg, Bai Lin, Irons, Stamp, and more. Solos and etude books are important to work out of as well. Early etude books include Getchell and Small, and later etude books include Bousquet, Longinotti, Brandt, and Charlier. The Arban's book is also something trumpeters and brass players should be familiar with. Read More
