At Yale, I became a Teaching Artist in 2015 and gave private lessons to Yale Undergraduate students. For beginning students, I usually work with Hal Leonard's essential elements as well as use the piano as a tool for them to hear the pitches they are playing. Once the fundamentals are grasped we can work on introductory solo repertoire. For children I'd like to make this a bit more fun as well, introducing some easy tunes they will be familiar with or excited to play. I absolutely love to see my students succeed not only inside the classroom, but outside as well. All of my lessons are light, friendly, and inspiring. All lessons are fast paced and fun. All of my student's will be required to set up a practice schedule to ensure the goals agreed upon by both the student and the teacher are met. I keep track each week in a notebook of what their assignments are. I use many different books, learning by ear, learning by youtube, learning by rout, and I have developed my own music writing technique which decodes any song at any level to a much easier level because all students are unique, and deserve to have a teacher who can reach them. It is also very important to me that the student picks their own songs to learn as part of the curriculum, and I will help the student discover which style fits them the best. Read More

For my beginning students, I have them start with KJOS Standards Of Excellence. Once they have began to learn the techniques to properly play, I will begin them with repitoire that I find suitable for them to play and also what they would like to learn so this way the students are learning what they want, which makes the music learning process even more enjoyable!
