I find a combination of modern, jazz, and classical music can go a long way in helping students enjoy music and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. My students are encouraged to enter competitions, recitals, and college auditions, as well as composing their own material. This way they can feel good about their progress and stay motivated to continue learning. I am always looking to bring on new students regardless of skill level. Read More

I guided these students to feel the construction of the keyboard, and understand basic piano knowledge such as scales, theories. They were not piano majors, but still I wanted them to be able to think like pianists, which would be extremely beneficial for their future musical career. I interacted with the students as much as possible, as I prefer this type of classroom as a pose to hated one-direction, silent classes. Read More

I am currently attending the Hartt School at University of Hartford pursuing my masters in piano pedagogy. I have been teaching piano for the past three years and absolutely love working with students of all ages and levels. I have had the opportunity to perform multiple times with the University of Central Florida orchestra, as well as in solo, chamber and New Music Ensemble settings. I have been lucky to be influenced by many great music teachers throughout my childhood and know the importance of fostering an interest and a safe place for students to express themselves through music. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching privately during school and have 5+ years of experience. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

I am very encouraging and enthusiastic but at the same time I am very alert to the details of how the student is performing and progressing. I am very gentle and always try to just suggest a better way if I see a problem rather than criticizing. I believe piano lessons should be an enjoyable experience and dont push for required practice amounts or exercises that are not musical. I try to integrate piano study into the larger context of musicianship and see the ultimate goal to be creating an abiding love for music. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs.“The fact that music education creates well-rounded, confident children, helps them become whole human beings who are sensitive to the world around them and teaches them the ability to think critically is why finding your music and giving your kids music lessons is such and important worthwhile undertaking. “ Read More

It is important to me that I pay attention to a student during a lesson to see what confuses them, what excites them and what frustrates them. I go at their pace. When a student shows a lot of interest and is practicing regularly I will try and challenge them as much as I think they can handle. Children and adult students need to know they are making progress. And I am a great encourager. Read More
