BM , Indiana University in piano performance
I have won numerous 1st place international piano competitions, as well as performed in Carnegie Hall, and other locations in NY,, West Coast, Floriday, Washington DC as well as the Caribbean
I started taking piano lessons at the age of 5. As a I continued to take piano lessons, I eventually in middle school began to study with a professor from Julliard until entering the university. I graduated from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University with a Bachelors of Music degree in piano performance. However, I started teaching right away and have enjoyed teaching for over 40 years. I have continued performing as well and enjoy the combination of spreading the beauty of music thru teaching and performing!
I have been teaching for over 40 years. In my studio, my focus is on repertoire, however I also cover ear training, theory and composition. I teach all styles of music with a focus on the classical repertoire. The theory, composition and ear training will often coincide with the style of music being studied. I provide 2 or 3 recitals every year where students have a chance to listen to others perform and find new music they have possibly not heard and would enjoy to learn. Recitals are such a wonderful teaching tool for those interested but they are not required.
In my studio and teaching methods I want everyone one to know that I teach all ages and all methods! Due to the variety of ages and levels that I teach, as well as the interests of different people, I think it is best to individualize the methods to each student. I customize the lessons to the age, level, and interests of the students! I do require some classical music for students to learn at all times. However, I also teach other styles as well. For example, movie themes, Disney tunes, Show tunes as well as composing!
Studying the piano begins with the basics of theory and technique. I begin with repertoire, of course, right from the start as well! Then, as time goes on, the practice time and concentration develops further and being at the piano for both the enjoyment and learning process becomes an everyday part of one's life! I have recitals and many opportunities for students to perform when they are a part of my studio! I also offer classes in composition as well to expand the interest of music from a different perspective!
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
