. I began teaching private lessons and tutoring students in harmony and ear training nine years ago. Since then, I have also taught lessons to brass player, as well as music theory, ear training, composition, and improvisation, to pupils of all levels and ages. I have also directed sectionals for brass and woodwind players in youth wind ensembles. These lesson books are crucial to teaching the fundamentals as a student is beginning to learn an instrument. I will break away from the books and introduce appropriate solo repertoire. Each student is a different starting point depending on playing ability and age among a multitude of other factors. I am willing to negotiate to give any help the student needs at any level. However, for beginners we will always start learning by ear, as well as singing and clapping (sound before symbol).
