My teaching experience begins back in High School when I was the leader of the brass section of my high schools marching band. I needed to help my fellow students succeed. I have also had many opportunities to help Dolan Middle School in their parades over the years. From these experiences, I am able to fix all types of instruments as well as I’m able to give advice on how to fix sound and play different types of brass instruments. Read More

I have been teaching trumpet since 2008 where I have been giving private, in home instruction. All of my students take part in the NYSSMA festival and annually score at the top of their class. Some students have made it into the SCMEA, NYSCAME, and All-State Festivals. I am a trained classical trumpeter and I am proficient on the Bb, C, Eb, A piccolo, G Bugle, and Flugelhorn trumpets. As a freelance musician in the tri-state area I play in a variety of ensembles which include: swing bands, symphonic orchestras, musicals, operas, parade bands, and various community bands. Read More

After that I worked at an electronic music studio in Hawthorne, N.Y. The studio eventually shut down and I began teaching Band at the Stamford Public Schools where I taught music at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Read More

My first objective when meeting any new student is to figure out what their strengths and weaknesses are, and what their overall goal in music is; whether it’s learning a new piece, playing jazz, playing for fun, getting first chair or making it into an ensemble. Being a classically trained trumpet player, I have come across nearly every issue and technical exercise imaginable. For all my students, I want to make sure that they are playing the trumpet correctly physically and not forming any bad habits. Read More

As far as my style of teaching, I would use the book, Accent on Achievement as I mentioned earlier as a base. Practicing every day for at least 30 minutes is a must not only from the book but by just playing long tones, playing major scales which I will also go over and possibly some songs to keep the student interested in his instrument. Also try to understand what type of style the student is leaning on whether it be Jazz, blues, classical or pop and we can try to develop the student to fit that style. Read More

4 to 6 year olds - I ask that they know their alphabet, and I will take care of the rest. I feel it should be just a fun experience and practicing should not be forced, but encouraged. I implore prizes and techniques that make learning fun and a great first experience. 7 years and up - Music requires practice and I will teach the student how to practice, what to practice, and require that they practice. I am very flexible in my method; My Teaching Style is relax. I let the student decide what they want to learn. This is the best way to keep each student motivated and improving their technique. I let the student learn at their own pace. Each student will get a Professional tailor made lesson. That is the biggest advantage of a private lesson. I will teach you all I know. Read More
