I received my bachelors of music education from the University of Northern Colorado in 1980. I believe the study of music improves a person even if they don't go into music as a career. The believe the study of music will help people to learn about themselves, learn how to study and how work with others. I always explore different methods that might fit the age and personality of the student but for keyboard lessons I have found success with the Alfred Piano Method. Instrumental lessons usually follow the method book that is selected by their school band director. Beyond that I have a large library of supplementary music to expand the students interest with new styles and composers.I'm very flexible with the method books and after I get to know the student I can select a method that would work the best for instruction. I am a music instructor with a wide variety of experiences, knowledge, and pedagogical approaches. Since I began teaching private, I have had students of all ages and ability levels achieve success, including one student who was accepted into the Colorado All-State Band and All-State Orchestra. My teaching experience began in 2008, when I began teaching private lessons on various instruments, on voice, and on conducting. I later went on to teach band and choir at Cedar Bluff High School in 2011. After this, I volunteered as the band director at Valley Head High School in 2014.
