I am a nurturer. I teach with caring, passion and support of all my students. It's not just enough show students how to play a note or read a rhythm, but how to use that knowledge in everyday life. I like to build a positive working relationship with my students. This way they look forward to their lesson, not only because they are comfortable around me, but because they are growing and learning about music and it's relationship to life. Read More

I've been teaching lessons since I was in high school and younger students would ask for me for help with their playing. I love sharing my knowledge of music with others as it's something that has brought me a lot of joy in my life. One of the most important points I like to emphasize in my lessons is the importance of making a conscious effort to let go of the fear, anxiety, and physical tension that comes up naturally when most students have to play their instrument. For beginner students, I take an individual approach because I've learned that there's no one way to teach multiple students. Each child is different so with careful evaluation of their specific needs and abilities, I decide on which approach would best fit that student. I love to start out by working on posture and embouchure. Those 2 are very important because younger children tend to be a little distracted in those areas. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. These are some of my approaches and I also like to reach on how to play by ear. Read More

I create a hands on curriculum based on the students musical proficiency. Alongside this structured lesson plan, every student will receive training on proper practicing techniques which help build their sense of guidance, responsibility, and structure. Students will also receive training for embouchure and tone development as well as warm up etudes that cater to the students skill level. Music theory and terms will be infused within the lesson plans to ensure my student's proper use of signs and symbols. Read More

Nothing brings me more pride and happiness than seeing my students learn and grow! In order to ensure this for each student, I pay close attention to what that student responds to best. I can therefore set realistic goals, which, when met, allow my students to naturally develop a sense of pride in their accomplishments - which I encourage by acknowledging those accomplishments and showing my own excitement and pride.
