I incorporate basic sightreading, scales, and musical literacy into this. For students with a bit of experience, I have an advanced version of this, which I usually pair with H.L. Clarke's "Techincal Studies for Trumpet/Cornet" and Vincent Cichowicz's "Flow Studies". Depending on the student's level of ability, I might also include parts of Arban's "Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet" or Vacchiano's "Trumpet Routines". I have been teaching in the NOVA area for a little over three years now. I started when I returned from out of state and have not looked back since. I have maintained a studio of about 10-15 students almost consistently after about a year of starting. For my beginner students who are either children or adults, I will typically start your training using the methods Hal Leonard's Essential Elements or Klose methods books.Once you have grasped the fundamentals of your instruments and training, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for your first recital performance such as the works of Mozart, Rose, and Benny Goodman etc. However, for the adults or more advanced players, I will try to find out what most interest you and guide my instruction according to your abilities to keep the lessons more engaging and fun. I also went on to become an adjunct professor at The University of the District of Columbia teaching "Jazz Trumpet" and "Beginning Jazz Piano".
