I became an instructor when the director came to me and asked if I was interested in becoming a music instructor. I always encouraged my students to practice everyday. By practicing every day then student will notice that they are progressing. If a student isn't progressing then I'm not doing my job. I encourage my students to enter any competition or recitals. I also give my younger students a practice log so they can track how much they practice. I like to treat it like a game. That way they look forward to practicing and can gain an appreciation for the trumpet. I also want the student to look forward to lessons with me. I'm most comfortable working with beginner to intermediate students, ages 7-11. Initially, I will provide my students with an assessment to learn more about the student's interest and performance level. Subsequently, based upon the assessment results, I will provide my students with a series of warm-up exercises designed to support proper posture, breathing and the overall handling of their respective instrument for every session .
