It is a very special experience to be able to see a student progress. Depending on the frequency of the lessons, I will set goals for the student to reach by the time the next lesson occurs. I always make the goals realistic for the student and I try my best to make the goal something that the student will enjoy. This will also help them to practice more frequently and work harder towards reaching this goal. Read More

My approach to teaching is a logical one. The student needs to learn to "crawl', and then to 'walk" and then to run. The student will get an assignment written in their lesson book, and will learn that lesson for the next lesson . Read More

I have been a student of local Philadelphia musicians like Eric Apelt, Al Rochlin and Bill Whitaker. In my college career I was fortunate to have instructors like Dr. Ted DiSanti and former ITG President Dr. Kevin Eisensmith. As a performer I have been a member of many different bands such as Concert Bands, Jazz Bands, Trumpet Ensembles, Quintet/Quartets, Pit Orchestra, Wedding Bands and have performed solo. Read More

I also place emphasis on phrasing, My experience is that many students get wrapped up in the mechanical process of playing at the expense of musicality. Read More

I began teaching starting in my undergrad, where I would teach weekly one-on-one, or group lessons to trumpet players in rural Indiana. Now, as I'm pursuing my Master's Degree at the Manhattan School of Music, I am teaching young students privately, as well as in group lessons. While teaching my students, I've always made sure to understand them personally, so that I could cater their lessons to how they want to improve and express themselves. Read More
