For trumpet students I initially provide my own material, based on the exercises which I have found to be beneficial in my own playing. Early on, I'll ask most students to play a recording of one of their favorite songs, which we'll use to improvise to as well as for ear-training purposes. As soon as the student has learned enough notes, we'll begin playing songs. I firmly believe that developing a good sense of a singing style is the foundation for good playing. For piano students I use the Alfred Piano Book series, which has nice approaches for both younger and older beginners. I will introduce some theory as early as possible so facilitate improvisation and an understanding of playing songs.
My main objective with teaching music is giving my students an understanding of music. The greater their understanding, the greater their appreciation will be for their instrument and music in general. I move according to the pace neccessary for each student to gain the most understanding of the material. I do my best to create a fun, engaging, and inspired environment for music students.
For beginning trumpet/trombone students: Rubank Book 1, Arbans Complete Method, Max Schlossberg, Gatti Grand Method, Peretti Book. For beginning piano students: Bastien Piano Series, Music for Little Mozarts, Alfred Series **All books mentioned progressively get harder and can be used for the advanced student as well** I like to focus and pin point what the student needs the most work with to make him/her progress and succeed on their instrument. It is important to also make each lesson fun, and enjoyable for the student while also learning the craft of their instrument.
I love teaching beginners of any age including special needs students. Most importantly, I will help you learn to play the music you LOVE and stay motivated.
I prefer to let students advance at their own pace so that they don't feel rushed and get discouraged. For younger students/beginners I keep an open line to the parents for extra support. I bring my instrument to the lesson and demonstrate as I teach. I center on encouragement and emphasizing a student's successes.

Children are recommended to start the trumpet at age 7 or 8. A student needs to be able to hold and support the weight of the instrument for extended periods, and have enough lung capacity to support the sound as well.
A standard trumpet includes many pieces: the rim, the cup, the mouthpiece, the shank, the leadpipe, the valve pistons, and the valve casings. We recommend that when you are purchasing your first trumpet that you visit a music store and speak with a trumpet expert. Prices for trumpets can vary widely, so it is best to have a budget in mind. The majority of students choose to rent a trumpet before purchasing. As the mouthpiece of the trumpet is a very personal part of the instrument, if you are renting, you will need to invest in the mouthpiece portion.
In home trumpet lessons offer a convenient option for learning to play the instrument for most students. The lessons will be structured the same way as in-studio lessons and usually take place once a week. However the goals and abilities of students differ, and as such the teachers in our network can work with the student in determining frequency of lessons.
We have many adult students taking trumpet lessons. Learning this instrument is a great way for many adults to learn a new skill, and have fun in the process! In just a few lessons, our teachers can help you notice significant progress.
The teachers in our network create custom lesson plans for each student studying the trumpet. Trumpet lessons are useful for many students taking band during school. They will focus on how to preparing the instrument for playing, holding the trumpet, playing the valves, reading music as well as common musical styles which use the trumpet.

Mr. Lou M. is a God-send! With the various needs that our organization requires from our education partners in order to provide enrichment services to our students, Mr. Lou M. has always gone above and beyond in meeting all of those needs. Our students are learning, our caregivers are happy and satisfied, and we couldn't be more pleased with his performance.

Omar is a great teacher as he provides expert instruction AND the right amount of encouragement. He is a professional musician on several instruments, yet he is patient with beginners! He also has gone out of his way to purchase an appropriate book for me, strings to re-string the cello, and extra attention to tuning. I appreciate how he explains and demonstrates exactly what a beginning cello student needs to know.

After my first piano lesson, Polina is easily the best teacher I could have hoped for. Extremely charismatic and excited to help YOU learn the piano. She puts a lot of effort into evaluation your learning style and will no doubt help you make tremendous strides! I'm stoked to continue taking lessons!

I honestly cannot say enough positive things about Rachel. We met her through CYT where my daughter took theater classes from Rachel and was directed by Rachel in several musicals. Because Rachel was so wonderful to work with and so clearly talented at teaching and directing, several years ago, my daughter started private vocal lesson with her and I have seen my daughter's vocal abilities grow in leaps and bounds. Rachel is an ace at picking music to work on that stretches abilities while at the same time, keeps vocal lessons fun. I highly recommend her as a voice and theater coach.

My daughter began learning sax in her school band, but she didn't begin PLAYING sax until she started lessons with Debra. From scales and exercises to actual pieces, Debra coached my daughter with real insight, sensitivity, and patience. Her knowledge of the instrument and feeling for music - along with her easy-going,"kid friendly" personality - make Debra the ideal teacher and musical mentor.

We've only had a few lessons with Elisa, but so far we really like her. She has a lot of great suggestions for solo pieces as well as orchestral music that involves all 3 of my boys, while also including some Christian music that we can play at church. She is very patient in explaining the lessons and encouraging!

Darrell is A-Maz-Ing! He demands results from his students and therefore results come quickly. The time he spends teaching is intense and packed with great instruction. He is a tough teacher but offers lots of valuable instruction that is applicable for music as well as life in general. I highly recommend Darrell if you are ready for results!

Travis is the greatest. He knows his music and how to teach it. He gives you time to learn, but will not allow student time to get lazy. I know he teaches all age groups. Young pre-teens to us old folks 78 years young. I have been taking lessons from him since early December 2014. He is a true professional. You can't go wrong with him.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
