My teaching experience dates back a while where I had the pleasure of teaching Trumpet to young children between the ages of 9-12 years of age. Also gave lessons in a local Music store which was quite rewarding as well. I am a third-year undergrad at NYU, studying Music Education with a concentration in instrumental performanceand I love it! No two students are the same, and I try to take each student's strengths, goals and preferences into account when designing their custom curriculum. For brass, I devise custom exercises for the player in addition to using classic pedagogical texts such as the Arban's and Clarke books. For piano, I start students off with a combination of scale work and repertoire. All lessons with me will include learning a wide variety of repertoire as well as a fair bit of improvisation, as I believe it is an invaluable tool for developing ears, creativity and musical personality. Teaching music is such an incredible thing for me. Seeing my students learn new music, is truly incredible for me. I base all my lessons on the individual student. I make a plan with my students that allows me to tailor each lesson to their needs. I enjoy making sure students can see their true potential while also making sure they can advance. I enjoy hearing the students natural abilities, understanding what kind of music pours out of them, acknowledge that, and from there we develop it. At the same time, direct the student with technique, theory and any other tools that will facilitate the music they are passionate about. Give the students homework, let them know that there is always another step, to lead by example!  As a trumpet player it is very important to establish a healthy routine that will build your tone, endurance that in the end you understand enough so you can teach and always evaluate yourself. I believe teaching is one of the most important things I can do to 'give back' in music. I've had the great fortune of studying with some of the best trumpet teachers in the world. Being able to share my experiences, the challenges I've faced, and how I've addressed them with the guidance of those teachers and applying that to the specific needs of a student is incredibly gratifying.
