I have also become an avid arranger, making arrangements of Broadway and Show Music for a classical ensemble. I love being able to cross the different styles of clarinet, and would love to teach students that have a desire to be a proficient player in any of those styles. For beginning students I believe in building a solid foundation in technique and appreciation for the drum set. This is something that I try to move through fairly quickly as to help the student progress to material that they are interested in. From there we will continue to build their foundation, but by learning from material that they have brought in. From there I believe that one of the most important things a teacher can do for a student is to expose them to materials that they otherwise would not have access to. Read More

For my beginning students, I start off with Hal Leonard's Absolute Beginners - Alto Saxophone method book to start them off with the basic fundamentals of reading music and playing the saxophone. For my more advanced students, I introduce fundamental saxophone techniques as well as solo repertoire. For adults, I encourage them to come up with a set of goals, and I set up each lesson so that we meet these goals. Read More

Music is my life and I believe that, above all else, my passion to share the love of music is my most effective asset! Having graduated from Oberlin College, studied at Berklee College of Music, toured as a keyboardist on a national hip hop tour, pursued a Kpop career in Seoul, produced and conceived of a music film in Cape Town, and currently through my teaching/composing/producing work here in New York City, I believe that my rich and diverse set of musical experiences have shaped a very hopeful and motivated musical perspective and sensibility, one which I hope to share. Having taught many students over the years, my favorite books for young beginners are the Rubank series and Pares Scale book. These give a good foundation and progression and have easy to read fingering charts. Once a student gets going with these I introduce simple duet books so that, by playing with me, they develop a strong sense of tone and intonation. The first solo books I recommend are collections of solo's by famous composers, these give the student the chance to gravitate toward the style and composer they like best. Read More
