I been a navy musician for twelve years and was with the navy band northeast in Newport, Rhode Island then with the US Naval Forces Europe Band.  Had a chance to perform in 28 countries between Europe and Africa including Russia, Italy, France, Greece, Nigeria and Gabon.  After four years of living in Italy, the navy moved me to Navy Band Great Lakes in Illinois.  Been a featured euphonium or trombone soloist in all three bands.  Currently I am with the Navy Band Northeast in Newport, RI.  I teach Trumpet, Trombone and Euphonium and play in various venues as a freelance musician.  Played with several Jazz ensembles and local symphony orchestras and the Chicago Brass Band.  I am very passionate and motivated to share with students my knowledge in music as a brass player.

I am a person who believes in teaching music to all ages. Through teaching I am hoping that I inspire students to follow their dreams on trying to achieve their goals in life. As a teacher I hope to gain the trust of my students by being the person that can help them progress forward in a chosen music career. I take pride in what I do. Hopefully I can encourage others to do the same.

Throughout my life I have been an active member of bands, choirs, and drama. In high school I was a part of every ensemble available including the Lockport Marching Porters, jazz bands, pep bands, and the top group the Wind Symphony for three years. Simultaneously all four years I participated in every choir I could, as well as the spring musicals, often with lead roles. In college I was part of the Wind Symphony, Wind Orchestra, Symphonic Bands, the Marching Illini: Baritone Squad-Leader, British Brass Band, Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble/quartets, and the Varsity Men’s Glee Club chorus. I also joined the national Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia men’s music fraternity which held many fund raisers and did community service in the area with the purpose of “Promoting music in America.”

I like to strike a balance of teaching out of various method books(depending on the student and their level of ability, some are more suitable than others of course and I help guide the way), and learning to play by ear, which can be almost anything the student wants to learn, provided it's not overly complicated for them. Technique has it's place, but is certainly not the whole story. Learning music that is fun, while at the same time learning to get better at your instrument, makes the overall process enjoyable and rewarding. Once you have the right tools, music is something that can be fulfilling for the rest of your life, especially when you learn to do it in a fun and healthy way.

I have been singing since I was 6, playing trumpet since I was 10, and I picked up guitar in my early 20's. I am now 49 and have taught voice, guitar, & trumpet for over 7 years from my cozy home. I have been part of many musical ensembles (in many genres) in my 30 year career and have session work that's currently located in the Seattle Rock & Roll museum. I have performed in varying capacities over 2,000 times in my career, and my emphasis is to help musicians prepare for live performances.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
