At the very beginning level I would start with fundamentals from whatever book I feel would be best for the student depending on their age and knowledge. Beforehand I definitely will need to asses their knowledge so I can do so accordingly. I however will now focus on solely fundamentals and will try to include in songs that the student would like to learn as long as it is in the bounds of reality, the lessons I provide are only part of the equation and the real work is what is put in after the lesson. These local children reminded me of myself when I was younger and strived to study music with a financially-difficult background. Helping these kids really was the highlight of my day as I could see how music has helped them grow. I will always feel grateful and excited to give back to my communities through what I do. After moving for college, I have continued to teach and tutor students and expanding these lessons to include more subjects such as songwriting, music theory, and music business. Read More

I believe in approaching each student individually. Each student's ability and/or understanding, no matter the level, may very, sometime drastically. So I tend to each student's individual needs on a case-by-case basis. I use various methods such as the Arban's book for fundamentals, Bordogni vocalise for lyrical style and stamina, various solo repertoire, and many more depending on the student's level of skills and understanding. Music has been my passion from a very early age. I have learned through my years as an educator that sharing this passion with others is just as rewarding as personal experience or success. I greatly enjoy performing as much as I can myself but helping students achieve their own personal musical goals has become one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. I look forward to meeting new students and learning about their passions and goals so that I can help them find the most rewarding path possible! Read More

I like to approach teaching in a relaxed style. I find students do better when they are relaxed and comfortable. I love to see my students gain excitement to their playing as they see themselves progressing. I plan my assignments based on the students desire to improve. The more they improve the more their desire for playing is fueled. In addition, I want to expose the student to many different approaches to playing and have them choose the style that will best suit them. Read More

I always enjoy seeing the light bulb moment my students get when they get something right, and learn something new. My teaching method is a simple stacking method we start with a lesson, I try to find where the student may struggle most and spend time with that. Then we move forward, but revisit the lesson prior for continuity. Lip slurs, scales and fundamentals for the brass players and rudiments, speed and handing techniques for all percussionists the practice and teaching regiment is simple yet effective. Read More

I always start with the fundamentals of sound production along with the musical fundamentals such as scales and sight-reading that go along with performance. I am extremely interested in all aspects of the biomechanics of trumpet playing, from breathing to embouchure to tone production to technique. Because of my intensive study of brass pedagogy I am very capable of teaching euphonium/baritone horn, trombone, tuba, and French horn. I try to make bad trumpet players better, and good trumpet players great. Read More
