Instruments: Piano Trombone

I am a passionate and inspired music instructor in trombone, music theory, composition, arranging and beginner level piano technique. I graduated with my Master's Degree in Jazz Performance at Berklee's Global Jazz Institute I believe that music is a manifestation of the complexities of the human condition and can act as a conduit of change and inspiration. Communication through music enables expression, provides comfort, enlightenment, hope and optimism. Our role as educators is to provide the venue for learning and create an atmosphere of all-inclusive inspirational thought provocation. Read More

I feel that it is best not to use the cookie cutter approach to teaching music. Each student is unique in their own way and is able to learn and apply musical concepts differently; therefore I take a careful and studious approach to make sure that my students have the best advantage by creating a custom lesson plan specific to their learning pace. I do my best to make it fun and engaging while increasing their ability and knowledge of music as it applies to their instrument. Read More

Instruments: Trombone Euphonium

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. A little about my self, I just recently graduated from the Hartt School of Music with a Masters in Trombone Performance, where I performed various kinds of music with many different ensembles, from the 20/20 chamber ensemble, to the Symphony Orchestra, to the "Foot in the Door" new music ensemble. I moved to the Boston area upon graduation and I have set up my studio in Quincy, MA. Read More

My methods vary for each instrument so I have given a basic outline of my techniques below: For beginning students who are children I start with the basics, how do you play this funny musical instrument! I have a few different books I turn to based on the student. For beginner adults I have a more technical approach to teaching the basics and will focus on what you really want to learn and get out of your lessons. Read More

All of my students follow more or less a similar path that deviates a bit once they have developed some. No matter the age I start all students off with building fundamentals of tone, flexibility, articulation, and range. I use a combination of exercises from David Vining, UNC's own Buddy Baker, and Emory Remington. While building fundamental playing skills I will have students begin playing etudes. Younger students will start in their band method books, but as time goes on they will transition into Rochut's Melodious etudes, and the Rubank method books. Read More

I cater lessons to YOUR needs and goals. I am not invested in there being a "right" technique of any kind. Together we will create a custom approach so that you will love the experience of playing the music you love.  I will share fun and efficient ways to practice so that you get immediate results. If desired, I also guarantee you will be playing a blues and improvising within a maximum of 6 weeks as long as you practice at least 10 minutes, three times a week.  You will have the option of playing along with recordings minus your part so that you can experience the joy of ensemble playing early on in the safety of your own home. I love creating small ensemble groups of students at similar levels and arranging concerts at regular intervals. Instruments: Piano Trumpet Trombone

For beginning students who are children, I typically begin with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements; as well as other, more auditory practices that do not require a book. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce other solo repertoire pieces that I feel the student is ready for, and assist in musical execution for future recitals. For adults, I try to first find out what the student is interested in, and then guide my lessons in such a way that would be beneficial for their goal, as well as their musicianship. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
