A native of Hong Kong based in Boston, Tommy Chiu has made appearances in major cities across Asia and North America both as a performer and an educator. His performance highlights include solo appearances with the University of British Columbia Chamber Orchestra and recently with the Boston Trombone Octet. As a trombonist, he was named finalist and performed as the only brass instrumentalist in the finals of various concerto competitions, including that of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestral Institute and the PRISMA Festival & Academy. While every individual student is different, I approach every lesson I teach with the same support and encouragement in the student's playing. I believe that support and enthusiasm augments the student's drive and willingness to learn and improve, even when practicing can sometimes be difficult.
