I'm a down to Earth, patient teacher willing to help my students pursue their goal anywhere from getting into college, pursuing a career, or even helping someone fulfill their dream they never had time for. I live in South Pasadena, however during the school year I live in Pomona where I attend university at Cal Poly Pomona where I major in Tuba Performance. Despite the fact I play Tuba the most, I also play in the pep band as a lead trumpet. Read More
Instruments: Trombone Euphonium Music
Typically I like to emphasize fundamentals for my students since solid fundamentals is a foundation for everything else and is something that needs to be constantly maintained and can always be improved regardless of the student's level. In addition, I also take into account what the student is interested in and try to work on music that is engaging, fun, and within the ability level of the student. I use a variety of different method books to suit the need of the student as well as methods and exercises of my own. Read More

My teaching experience immediately began after high school, as I began teaching lessons part time I wanted to grow more as an educator and grasped at the opportunity . I got the opportunity to become a marching band coach for high school. Much of the focus on my work was the testing of the memorization of students' music and music tonality of a section in the marching band whether it be low brass or woodwinds. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet Trombone Euphonium French Horn Tuba
For the beginning student, I begin with the fundamentals of breathing and application to the first tone. I spend the first three to four lessons developing good habits of proper air and tone production. Following this, I begin with using the approved method book that correlates with the instruction that the student is receiving at school. If there is no method book available, I will begin with a discussion with my student and decide together what method book is best for their education. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonards Essential Elements book, as well a basic understanding of music. Once the student has progressed to have a nice grasp of the fundamentals of music, I usually begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. I also believe in the importance of listening to as many professional recordings as possible of the instrument the student is taking lessons on. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet Trombone French Horn
I always vary my teaching methods to accomodate each of my student's needs. However, my lesson format stays fundamentally the same. I always begin with some mouthpiece buzzing, which incorporates ear-training, then move to rhythm exercises, scales and technical studies, method book, and any other music the student is working on at the time. Most beginning students will start out with Book 1 of a standard method book; I recommend the Standard of Excellence series. Read More

My lessons are taylored to each student individually to address their needs and desired results, and depending on their ability. I like to focus on technique and then work on the specific needs of each student to achieve their goals. I like to find out what my students want to play, then figure out how to get them to be able to. Read More
