No two students are the same, and I try to take each student's strengths, goals and preferences into account when designing their custom curriculum. For brass, I devise custom exercises for the player in addition to using classic pedagogical texts such as the Arban's and Clarke books. For piano, I start students off with a combination of scale work and repertoire. All lessons with me will include learning a wide variety of repertoire as well as a fair bit of improvisation, as I believe it is an invaluable tool for developing ears, creativity and musical personality. I am a trumpet player, composer and educator. I grew up in Florence, Italy and moved to Boston, MA in 2012 where I attended Berklee College of Music for my undergraduate and graduate studies. I believe that music is a great tool for communicating to each other even past language and cultural barrier. My goal as teacher is to enable each students personal talent and guide them through knowing an instrument so that they can access that communication and the endless possibilities that come with it. For a young child to love music, a teacher must introduce it to him or her in a passionate way, without forcing it one the child. The struggling student is just as capable of loving music, just as much as the accomplished one. As I mentioned earlier, all students learn at different paces, so I teach each student as close as humanly possible to their level. It is not important for a child to play like a professional musician, but to play like the student has put his or her heart into learning the music. Read More
