For my beginning students I usually start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Then we move to the "Arban" book and eventually start working on solo rep. Another thing I like to implement is the breathing gym, which not only helps as a musician but can also assure you having clear lungs! I usually try to do fun things for example if my student is young I ask them whats their favorite pop song and I usually arrange it or find an arrangement and spend a lesson doing that, or even teaching them to learn it by ear. Lessons are tailored to each individual. My teaching methods include a warm-up routine, scales, and etudes or songs from various method books, depending on the skill level of the student. Standard repertoire in classical and jazz studies is also covered. Sight-reading, improvisation, and ear-training are also a part of most lessons. Material that is time-sensitive for the student, such as school music (band/orchestra) as well as seating test/audition music is given top priority. Read More

We will extensively on flexibility and scales through out all stages of development as well as intonation on the instrument. I am also really detailed about developing ear training to identify notes with out use of music and vice versa. A complete musician can both read and use his trained ear. Read More

My teaching experience is very fresh as I only have tutored freshmen in beginner trombone and music theory. I believe if I can teach college music majors trombone I can teach just about anybody. My personal trombone experience is that in high school I studied jazz and learned jazz trombone methods. However, in college I studied mostly classical playing and that would be strongest curriculum. I've also studied piano and found that accompanying a student or at least learning the theory of a song can go a long way in a lesson. Read More
