My Teaching Style might be called the Charles Rosen Approach holistic use of numerous aspects: 1. Efficient instrumental mechanics (the basis of a strong and accurate technique); 2. Causal influences both historical and theoretical, which inevitably affect each other in a constant give-and-take and which we perceive through the sieve of time after the event. 3. Proper use of the body as demonstrated in Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais, and Body-Mapping, which can be grouped together under the umbrella of Ergonomics! Read More

My teaching experience dates back to the 1980's where I have taught Music Classes involving singing of worship music in religious elementary schools as well as teaching music theory, and music history. I was also a preschool teacher and taught preschool music enrichment classes. After school hours I enjoy teaching in my own home music studio, but due to pandemic have now switched to online music lessons. Teaching the guitar or drums to my students is very rewarding for it allows me to share my passion for music, keep music alive where as sometimes music is not present enough in this world, and to see my students progress and shine as they smile when they achieve a new musical goal! In college I began my teaching career. I started teaching private lessons, band classes, and General Music classes. I continue to teach currently as well. Teaching music is truly my passion! Through my teaching I want to spark a passion for music in my students. It is important to me that my students truly enjoy learning music. I find asking the student about what they hope to achieve, and helping them create goals helps them to truly enjoy their lessons. Read More

My teaching philosophy is based on the 'Art of the Student' mindset, which emphasizes a positive, individualized, and constructive approach to teaching. I believe that each and every student is unique and requires an individual approach dependent on their learning styles, and their own goals and ambitions. I also believe that as a teacher it is my duty to help each student figure their individual goals if the student does not yet have a clear understanding. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet
I aim to teach my students the difference between "playing the trumpet" and "making music" and how this distinction is applied to practice. "Playing the trumpet" is a physically demanding task that requires diligent, often tedious practice to become skilled at. "Making music", on the other hand, can be done by anyone at any skill level and is lots of fun. The goal of practicing the trumpet is to become so familiar with the instrument that it becomes an extension of our body and mind, as effortless and automatic to perform as breathing or walking. Entered my first proper studio in 2000 to record a 4-song EP with with The Wax Dolls. Following the older siblings departure to college, the remainder of the band regrouped as PipSqeak. As the sole male in that riot girl project, I enjoyed learning to write and play more restrained and sophisticated parts for the shifted tone and leadership in the band. After PipSqueak recorded the EP Prom Queen; the song Alone at the Rock Show got my first radio play on Tulsas Z104.5, and we even shot a (unreleased) video with then-student Tulsa videographer/journalist Paul Taggert. I have been singing for over two decades. Primarily I am a classical operatic type singer. My teaching experience began in college, when I would tutor my peers in various subjects. Later on I taught STEM for about 6 months, and became certified to teach English while student teaching. I have a curiosity, and a knack for music. People tend to think you either can learn, or you cannot. But, I think with the right training, and toolset anyone has potential. Read More
