Working with students and sharing my love of music is my passion and is what motivates me as an instructor. In 2017, I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a dual Bachelor's Degree in Performance and Contemporary Writing in Production. Throughout my life as a musician I have enjoyed opportunities performing all over the world, at venues such as Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Blue Note Jazz Club in NYC, along with touring Chile, Spain, Canada, Dominican Republic, and Panama with the Berklee Global Jazz Institute. My teaching style is very "go with the flow." Each day is a new opportunity to learn a little more about music and your chosen instrument. Each lesson is a time where we can delve deeply into one piece of music, or jump around to several different topics. Of course, there is always room for structure and I make sure that we stay on track! There are so many different aspects of each instrument to cover, but there no need to get bogged down with complicated acronyms and over complex methodology. Read More

I use the musical methods that work and produce results for the indvidual - without overlooking the need to instill discipline and musical rudiments required for mastery. For brand new brass students, I begin with basics of embouchure formation, in a fun way... using a progression of "free buzzing", mouthpiece playing, ultimately leading to playing on the horn. This will take a few days to a week to establish. The result is a firm foundation and understanding that will last a lifetime. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements or other method books that they have been using. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo trumpet repertoire as well as popular tunes that will easily engage with them. In addition, I will include some technical exercises to master their skills and endurance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

I directly relate my teaching methods to Dr. Jan Kagrice, the founder of Musician's Wellness of North America; an organization that rehabilitates musicians with conditions that affect their ability to play their instruments. I've continued her teachings of a relaxed, observational form of playing, which basically means that my students learn how to play a brass instrument with the least amount of effort possible with the best sound possible. The method is also very body-oriented, with healthy stretches and focus on a sustainable way to play these instruments. Read More

I'm a trombonist, pianist, and composer that loves to teach as much as I love to play! I'm originally from Chicago, IL and started playing the piano at age 8 and trombone at 11. When I was young, the music that really drew me in the most was jazz and in 2016 I moved to New York City to study jazz trombone at the Manhattan School of Music. I've been living here ever since and had the opportunity to play music of multiple different genres with world class musicians at some amazing venues. Read More
