I began teaching trombone at Andys Music located in Livingston NJ in the early 2000s and later private in home instruction. I give the tools for the student to become a better player and to build confidence. If the student is participating in the schools music program I help them prepare for stage band performances or recitals. If the student is an adult I have a ton of sheet music covering classical, jazz, Latin and rb styles. Read More

For beginning students, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has a grasp on the fundamentals of performance, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital or NYSSMA solo. After the student moves on from basic method books, I introduce more trombone-specific books such as Arban's Trombone Method Book, and Rochut's Melodious Etudes for trombone. For adults, I like to find out what kind of music they want to play and plan my lesson accordingly to skill level. Read More

It is here that I will begin to introduce solo pieces, generally based on a mix of what the student is good at and needs improvement on. These solos could either be picked by myself or the student. At advanced levels, I like to teach what I have learned about multi-tonguing and multiphonics (to play and sing simultaneuosly. Here is when the material is based on what the student enjoys playing. I've taught in public and private schools as an instrumental music teacher and later had my own studio of 50 students. Read More

For beginner and novice students I start with discovering where they at playing wise and knowing their instrument. Repertoire wise I believe simple Arban studies and nursery rhymes are all a beginner needs to know to improve their skills. As a student becomes more skilled either Rochut studies or Tyrell's 40 Progressive Studies can really help a student tune their skills. For fundamentals, I believe air control, phrasing, and legato playing to be critical to improve. Read More

I'm a dedicated musician and instructor eager to develop ones musical abilities. Prior to attending the John J. Cali School of Music, I began performing throughout the tri-state area as a hired musician. While immersed in the multiple ensembles offered at school, I would also be involved in studio recording sessions, hired by artists and composers of various genres. After my time at the school of music, I have been awarded various opportunities that have allowed me to travel and perform around the world. Read More
