My experience with teaching has spanned from my high school days when I trained in my hometown of Nashville, TN. I taught students in my community orchestra, as well as a basic music theory class there. After high school, I took on a couple of private students for my college professors, whom I intermittently taught throughout my bachelors degree. Now, I am currently employed by Angels House of Music in Cincinnati, where I have 5 full time students. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in Cincinnati for the last 2 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

My passion for teaching began in 2010 as a teaching assistant, teaching beginning music group lessons for first to third graders. I believe that having the proper training on technique is essential, as it is one of the most effective way to express and enlarge students musical ideas and interpretation. Read More

As a teacher, I draw upon my experiences as a student, thinking what I needed that I didn't get or what I experienced that I didn't like, and vice versa. As a student, I didn't like to practice, I didn't like to go to concerts, and I didn't think what I did was special. Read More

Learning isn't a photocopy process which means a lot of the learning process is a responsibility of the student. I view my job as a teacher is to 1) make sure the student isn't getting overwhelmed, 2) hold the student accountable for their learning, and 3) guiding students through experiences that will facilitate their learning. My goals as a teacher are to 1) bring students to the highest level of technical ability they are able to attain, and 2) develop in the student the highest level of musicianship possible through theory and ear training.
