Honesty is key: losing interest or feeling disheartened about your playing is sometimes part of the journey, and I want to remain as open as possible so that my students can feel relaxed and able to talk to me honestly about how their practicing is going. My ideal student is someone who is excited about the violin. I have experience playing all styles of music (classical, jazz, rock, and more!) so if that is something you or your child is interested in, I can help! Read More

There is no one size fits all method for teaching anybody. What’s important is to strike a balance of activities that works for the student, engaging their desire to learn while giving them the structure necessary for success. I began teaching privately as a high school student, working with begnning students at the middle school. I have taught privately in my home and in students' homes since graduating from college. Regular practice is very important and something I emphasize with my students. I like to include a mixture of classical and modern music in my lessons, so that students enjoy what they are learning and playing. If a student does not enjoy their time playing their instrument, they will not want to put the practice in and lessons will become a point of argument. Read More

I have been teaching privately since I was 17 and I have always had a passion for kids. While I was in high school, I was concert master for our trip to New York City. Read More

Although I am not a certified Suzuki teacher, I do utilize the Suzuki books for beginning students. I find that they provide a good breadth of repertoire suitable for students who are new to their instruments. For more advanced students, I use standard repertoire for their instrument, making sure each piece teaches them to hone a skill while also preparing them for big auditions. I believe it is important to have a long and diverse repertoire list. Read More
