I really enjoyed motivating the students, teaching them about musicianship, but also about how to be better people in the process. I loved watching them grow and succeed both musically and personally, and the bond that the teacher-student relationship created was quite inspiring to me. From there I began to teach more and more. When I entered graduate school, I became a teaching assistant for my private teacher. For most of my beginning piano students, I use the piano adventures series. They offer a clear and well paced curriculum with numerous supplemental resources in a variety of styles. For beginning music theory, I use the Berklee School of Music texts or the Benward and Saker textbooks as well as many videos and other resources to explore musical concepts. Learning an instrument is a skill that requires practice and dedication, but making music is something that anyone can do. My goal with each of my students is to encourage creativity and truth in music as an expression, and to provide the technical practices that can maximize their ability to express themselves through their instrument. I find that students who are inspired by their personal appreciation for music practice more and achieve higher, and my goal is to foster an environment of learning and exploration to help them find themselves. A mother, I love working with children as well as instructing/inspiring adults in their musical journey in learning. I have been singing my entire life and teaching others my entire life.
