I have taught private students at the beginning, intermediate, and college level as well as coached brass students at several middle schools and high schools throughout southern California, and I currently maintain a private teaching studio. In addition to private one-on-one lessons, I am also experienced in conducting group lessons and sectionals where students can explore the joy of playing with other students at their level. Read More

Teaching is a way for me to share my passion for music and my love of the flute. I truly enjoy helping students progress as they develop abilities on the instrument and gain understanding of how music works. It’s very rewarding to see students achieve goals, experience growth and accomplishment, and to expand their musicianship to new levels. Through the craft of teaching, I aim to guide students in putting all of the musical and technical elements together so that they can enjoy the act of making music. Read More

My role as a teacher is to supply my students with the right skill set to pursue their own creativity. With music, there is no set solution to any given problem. That is why I enjoy being very flexible with my students. Any piece of repertoire can be played and interpreted in a variety of ways. I strive for originality and encourage my students to do the same with any piece of music they play. Read More

I like to keep the learning simple and basic for the beginning students(children adult), so I typically start with excerpts from the Robert Pace series or John Thompsons piano books from The Willis Music Company. That way I can assess the student to see if they can understand music auditorily, visually and kinesthetically. For my mid to advance students, I access them through customized questions a series of strategic musical exercises to find out what the students are interested in, and assist them in their goals on the level that they can understand.
