My teaching methods depend on the age and the level of the student that I am teaching. If it is a young guitar student in middle school, just getting to the point where they can hold the guard guitar correctly and not have it hurt their fingers when they use the frets is a huge step. I am a pianist and composer. I write and perform music for solo piano, instrumental ensemble, voice and choir, and orchestra, and have recorded seven CD albums of my work. One of the highlights of my life was recording "The Seeker," 44 minutes of music for orchestra, at Capitol Studios in Hollywood. "The Seeker" is the recipient of the Just Plain Folks Best Instrumental Award. I also teach Connect & Glow Meditations, leading guided visualizations with keyboard music which lead to deep relaxation, healing, and connection. Read More

To start, I try to find out what the musical interests are from the student and try to cater their lessons in that direction. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More
