Hello! I am a Lutenist, Guitarist, Bassist Lecturer with 20+ years of tutelage experience in several plucked Instruments. For me, working with students across all capacities is highly rewarding work - perhaps my life's work. I began teaching the Bass Guitar at age 14, mostly to my peers and yet-to-be colleagues. Shortly after turning 16, I was invited to play Jazz/Fusion with a small Ensemble at Disneyland. By 18, I had moved on to the Guitar in many varieties, including the Conventional Classical Guitar, both in the Early and Modern Style. Read More

If you want to learn how to play bass guitar and have a good work ethic and don't give up easily, I am ready to teach you everything I know! Read More

I am always intrigued when one of my students makes a breakthrough in their learning. Music is a type of adventure that allows for building blocks to build on top of one another. Students work at their own pace. When a students is ready to move onto the next level, we will advance. Allowing students to see and hear their improvement encourages students to keep pushing through learning their instrument. Read More

My teaching method include a combination of technique, artistry, interpretation, expression, musicality, and repertoire. This approach attempts to build synthesis and synergy between the different elements of musicmaking—both vocal and instrumental: the development and honing of sound technique provided a basis for informed and tasteful musicality as well as, by extension, effective and meaningful interpretation and performance of literature. At the same time, an awareness of and attention to expression, emotion, and interpretation informs the building and practice of technique, giving it context and artistic function. Read More

I'm a young musician who came to the United States from Russia to pursue a career in music. Currently I'm working on my degree in music performance at Fresno Pacific University. I also write my own music and am working on my debut album. Music is a really important part of my life and that's why I want to teach anyone who is interested in learning and understanding music. I strongly believe that everyone can play music no matter what age or skill level you are, I know that you can do it if you will be dedicated enough. Read More

I typically start with making sure a student knows his instrument first. What it is, all the diffedrent parts and how they work. I will usually start by asking what the student wants to learn and get out of lessons. Since not all students are the same it is really up to them. I teach the bare bone basics, since that is the foundation. I usually start with having a student become familiar with the basics of notes, what makes them sound they way they do, and haw to make the best use of them. Read More

Seeing my students develop thier own love for music is something that thrills me to my very core. If I have helped a student convey who they are through music, and have them become excited to share that with others, I have done my job well. I will work with each student to set goals for their piano career, and seek to find out what drives thier passion and love for music so that they can be fulfilled.I will talior my teaching style fo fit each student's needs Each student is challenged to practice a minimum of 4-5 times a week 30-60 minutes for each time because practice inspires passion. When did you decide to become a professional musician? Was it a gradual decision or was there a defining moment for you?
I became a professionally after studying at the University of Michigan for my Master's degree. I completed my Master's in one year and I then was hired to play on a European tour for 8 months. During this time I realized that I can hold my own as a professional cellist. I did return to Michigan to study more with my Professor on a private level for an additional 3 years. After which, I chose to become a professional cellist and as such I was hired in Michigan by several orchestras for 5 years. So a couple of years after receiving my Master's I gradually I earned my position as a professional cellist in several orchestras in Michigan and thus began my journey as a professional.
Does music run in your family? Tell us a little about your musical family members.
Yes I am come from a musical family on my Mother's side. My Mom played Mandolin and Piano as a child. Once she got married to have children, she no longer continued to play, however, she was the force that allowed us to choose my instrument and continue working diligently through my childhood.
If you play more than one instrument, how did you decide to start playing the second? (Or 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc)!
I started learning violin as a secondary instrument about 10 year ago. I was taught by my brother who is considered to be in the top 5 violinists in the U.S.A. I am very fortunate to have learned from the very best and now I can share my knowledge with my students. As the Violin is my secondary instrument, I have confined my teaching only to Beginning Violin which is approximately 1-2 years. After the student is proficient at the beginning level I then suggest to the student and parents to study with another teacher is more advanced than I am. Of course I have many names to offer the parents so that continue to get the best teacher possible.
What is your favorite style/genre of music to play and why?
I love classical of course, but I also like Broadway and popular music. I am classically trained and I am most comfortable playing classical and teaching classical.
I created "Cello Mania" about 6 years ago which consists of 8-10 professional cellist and we perform works from the classical style to rock 'n' roll. By hiring a composer we have been able to play music from Ricky Martin, U-2, Lady Gaga, Pirates of the Caribbean, Elivs Presley and Gloria Estefan just to name a few great singers.
If you weren't a musician what do you think you'd be doing instead?
Very hard question simply because I've never done anything else in my life. I did have to supplement my income by working as a medical secretary. At this point I hope to stay playing and teaching for many years to come.
