Instruments: Lute

I have worked with students and professionals alike for many years. There are times that a player needs to focus on technique - other times, interpretation. Music can be complex with many moving parts (literally.) In my personal experience, a student-teacher relationship is based on mutual goals and understanding with communication being the bridge between the two. My students are in a sense, my responsibility. That is to say that their development, happiness and satisfactions are quite important to me. Read More

By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, its important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I believe that positive reinforcement is the best way to encourage my students to attain the confidence that is needed as a performer. Musical expression is a visceral experience and I strive to create a comfortable environment for my students. Because sometimes learning an instrument can be tedious, I like to break my lessons up with warmup, rudiment, etude and dexterity exercises; Scale and theory practices; repertoire development in multiple styles including original works; and finally improvisation and listening. Instruments: Bass Guitar

As I mentioned with my methods, people pick up the guitar and want to start playing right away and I don't see anything wrong with that! I believe anybody can learn to play their favorite songs as long as they put in the practice and have a little patience. It might not be realistic to play a song day 1, but some people really do catch on quickly! We will set individual goals student to student and go from there! Read More

Instruments: Cello

For all my students I want to get to know their interests and goals as a musician. I always start with technique and scales with 2 pieces. I always suggest using a metronome and tuner and listening to recordings of the pieces. Physical positioning with the cello is also very important incorrect instruction on posture can lead to injury’s, discomfort and intonation problems. I want to educate my student and give correct information and teach them in the best way possible. Read More

My teaching experience began when I was a senior in high-school My sister had taught a few students in our neighborhood and asked me to take on her students when she moved away to attend college. I gladly did and discovered my love and passion for teaching. I taught consistently from 2003-2005 in Gilroy, until I attended Fresno Pacific University. I took a brief hiatus from teaching to focus on my own studies, but began teaching again in 2008-2011. Read More
