Overview:
I'm a very patient and inventive trombone instructor who enjoys teaching new and old students. It has been my goal to pass on the knowledge and experience I have gained over the years of performing on trombone. In 2015, I graduated from Cal State University of Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with an emphasis on trombone. Like many musicians, I have traveled the world to experience different music that others culture have to offer. I've taken many opportunities to record and play with accomplished musicians such as Outkast, Radiohead, "Smash and Grab" The CROODS, WAR, MC Hammer and many others.
EXPERIENCE
I began my teaching experience in 2006 as a Teaching Assistant in the USC Trojan Marching Band. It gave me the opportunity to craft a unique private lesson mentorship curriculum for all students who join the trombone section. I spent many years motivating young musicians to push their limits of musicianship and leadership. I really love to see my students get a concept, experience results and pass it on to others. In every lesson as the students, I learn to become a better teacher. It's a gift that keeps on giving.
METHODS USED
I start my first lessons by having students play their favorite song. I do this only for students who have played the trombone before. I use this to see what level they are at. For beginners I with the fundamentals and get them playing right away. I have a variety of etudes, exercises, solo pieces and techniques. I teach my students how to perform and to be a professional. I also encourage to students to practice at least 1 hour a day. I always make sure that my lessons are fun, educational and full of excitement.
LESSON STYLE
I like to take a more personal tailored approach and focus on areas that are difficult for at student to learn. I treat each lesson like a building block and I keep detailed analysis of all of my students progress. I am very passionate about teaching and I enjoy the look and feel of success the students get form my knowledge. I able to teach any age with a variety of different styles, be it classical, solo, funk, jazz, marching band, orchestra or concert band, I have knowledge of them all. Success is only one practice away.
