Overview:

I have been playing electric bass guitar exclusively since I was 15 years old. I have been playing live music in the popular top 40's and dance cover band The Marie Wilson band and have many years of experience playing (almost!) all kinds of popular music. If you want to learn how to play bass guitar and have a good work ethic and don't give up easily, I am ready to teach you everything I know! I work for Fresno Unified as a certificated substitute teacher and am getting my teaching credentials, so I am used to working with students of all ages as well as adults. I would prefer to teach at my home in Clovis, and while I don't exactly have a music studio I do have a quiet, comfortable place to play. I even have a bass and amp you could use if you don't have your own gear. If you are simply looking to learn how to play your favorite song that's fine! If you are a total beginner, that's fine! If you want to learn more advanced techniques and hone your skills, that's fine, too! Whether you want to learn the notes and theory or just want to be able to play a song, I can assist you.

EXPERIENCE

I have been working for Fresno Unified for over a year and love teaching students of all ages. There is a great feeling when you can see a student learn and grow and start to "get" it after lots of patience and practice. It goes for any subject, but when a student is struggling learning and instrument and something finally "clicks" it's a great feeling of accomplishment for all involved. I am looking forward to making that happen with my time at Musika Lessons and can't wait to get started :)

METHODS USED

I believe in teaching the basics first and working on technique and just being able to play the instrument before anything else. Most people learning guitar (bass or otherwise) want to start rocking right away, and I think that's great! It's a less "academic" instrument than playing the piano or harp, so I don't see the problem with that. Also, it's your money and I want to see you satisfied :) It is important to know what notes you are playing, especially if the student wants to play with other musicians, so that is a must, as well.

LESSON STYLE

As I mentioned with my methods, people pick up the guitar and want to start playing right away and I don't see anything wrong with that! I believe anybody can learn to play their favorite songs as long as they put in the practice and have a little patience. It might not be realistic to play a song day 1, but some people really do catch on quickly! We will set individual goals student to student and go from there! I am easy going and learning an instrument doesn't have to be a chore. As long as you want to learn and are willing to practice on your own you will get it!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.

Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
