I believe that the secret to becoming a talented musician is to love making music. I design my lessons around the needs and goals of the students, striving to have fun along the way. During high school, I joined the marching band on alto saxophone and taught myself to play and read music. I was section leader for 2 years. Read More

For all beginners, I start off with basics. I like to use the Rubank Beginner (or intermediate) book along with weekly scales. A well rounded musical foundation is vitally important, so I make sure to balance classical training with ear training assignments that get the student to listen critically to music they're passionate about. I believe that students need to own their music education, so over time, I gradually start to incorporate their interests into weekly assignments. Read More
