During my entire career, I have worked as a private teacher of Clarinet and Saxophone, with people from all ages, 10 to 60. In 2011, I also worked as a Clarinet and Saxophone teacher for Altamira School, a private school in Santiago, Chile. I have Classical, Jazz and Latin-American music experience; learning, performing, recording and teaching. I developed my career as a musician in Chile as a Saxophone and Clarinet player, performing with many different styles of bands and orchestras, so I have experience playing Jazz, Latin Jazz, Blues, Funk, Afro Beat, Salsa (Son, Rumba, Mambo, etc), Bossa Nova, Samba, Tango, etc.  I also Performed, Collaborated and Recorded with: La Pozze Latina, Irazú Big Band, Gitano, Carlos Cabezas, Tonino Carotone, Luis Jara, Leo Quinteros, Gonzales y los Asistentes and Benjamín Lechuga. I always teach based of what the student knows and/or what the student is interested in. I teach technical aspects, as well as repertoire and music theory. A healthy vocal sound is our number one priority. I integrate music theory within a students music lessons through their repertoire. Students will become familiar with sight-singing melodies and rhythms of various levels. I will introduce repertoire appropriate for the voice type and technical skill level. Read More

As a non-classical instructor, I feel that too many teachers over-emphasize sight-reading which causes many other essential areas of musical to be neglected. My personal philosophy is that a "complete" musician is a well-rounded one, and a "well-rounded" musician is proficient in many areas of music (not just one or too). Music encompasses an extremely large range of skill sets I make a point to leave no stone unturned - I don't require my students to learn every area of music, but I do present them with many areas to expand their horizons. My teaching philosophy is simple and straightforward. I always put the student first. Nothing motivates students better than passion and love for their instrument. In order to progress musically, a student must LOVE what they do. For this reason, I tailor my teaching specifically to meet each of my students needs, because each student learns differently. I take creative approaches to motivating my students to inspire improvement every week and FUN is my primary motivation. Read More
