I've been teaching the brass instruments for over 30 years, and I love to teach my students! I teach all ages, and I tailor my teaching to the student's own pace and abilities. I'm very good at sizing up students and telling them exactly what they need to do to instantly improve their playing. I also include some education in music theory as part of our lessons. For my VOICE students, I believe in the 5 steps method. This consists in 1. Relaxing, 2. Breathing, 3. Vocalization, also known as Vocal Warm-Ups, 4. Sol-fa, 5. Song Preparation. My voice students know that their voices is the only instrument that cannot be bought and replaced, and for that reason, we all need to take good care of it and educate it so it lasts forever. I have been a musician for several decades and have had the fortune to do take music lessons from many teachers. What I have found most important to me, was to have a teacher who able to take where I was at skill wise and go from there. Im a huge advocate of practicing but Im not a fan of assigning tedious exercises that a student cannot relate to. If the student has a favorite genre of music and can sing along with the songs they like (most everyone), then thats where we should start. Read More
