All of my lessons are built around songs to teach technique and I add materials to teach theory and musicianship if the student wants and needs it. I always interview each student to find out their interests and desires and and build a custom curriculum eight lessons at a time to insure satisfaction and success on the students terms. I am very flexible with the students I work with. Depending on how you learn best, I will adapt to your needs. I can teach through the use of books (such as the Suzuki Method, John Thompson, etc) but I am also an advocate for learning by ear, transcribing and chord charts. I've lived, taught, and performed around the world: after earning my bachelor of music in piano performance degree alongside my bachelor of music in horn performance degree in Kansas, I went to the New England Conservatory in Boston for my master's in horn. I believe the methodology shifts depending on the student. I do have a sets of Guitar exercises and a simple method to explain theory that helps students from all levels. I always combine the technical exercises and theory, with some song that's appropriate for the student level. I always to choose something that the student likes to hear.
