Instruments: Bass Guitar
I like to give my students small goals until I get to know them better. Early triumphs in learning a musical instrument tend to really help keep the attention of the new player. With beginning students, I like to teach in reference to the music the student wants to play. With Intermediate students, I like to have them explore new musical genres with similar concepts to what they are listening to or creating, in order to teach them to use the tools they already have more diversily. Instruments: Piano Trumpet Trombone Saxophone Music Keyboard
My musical career began at a very young age when my mother enrolled me in piano lessons with a retired music teacher down the road. I was 8 years old and every Thursday I would walk myself down the street to sit on a wooden bench in front of a very old piano. It was there that my love for music and for what it was to be a musician was first nurtured. Read More

My teaching style is structured, but compassionate, as I believe that the right balance of difficulty and fun is the key to continually motivating my students. Though learning a new instrument can be frustrating at times, regular, scheduled practice time, and knowing how to practice effectively is the key to breaking through the invisible walls sometimes encountered in violin playing. As a teacher, my main goal is to serve my students and instill in them a love of music. Read More

During my entire career, I have worked as a private teacher of Clarinet and Saxophone, with people from all ages, 10 to 60. In 2011, I also worked as a Clarinet and Saxophone teacher for Altamira School, a private school in Santiago, Chile. I have Classical, Jazz and Latin-American music experience; learning, performing, recording and teaching. I developed my career as a musician in Chile as a Saxophone and Clarinet player, performing with many different styles of bands and orchestras, so I have experience playing Jazz, Latin Jazz, Blues, Funk, Afro Beat, Salsa (Son, Rumba, Mambo, etc), Bossa Nova, Samba, Tango, etc. I also Performed, Collaborated and Recorded with: La Pozze Latina, Irazú Big Band, Gitano, Carlos Cabezas, Tonino Carotone, Luis Jara, Leo Quinteros, Gonzales y los Asistentes and Benjamín Lechuga. Instruments: Clarinet
I like to ground my teaching in a line my own teacher, Carey Bell, often told me-- "if you make a mistake, no one dies!" Music is a challenging discipline in every respect, so I encourage my students to approach it from as positive and joyful a place as possible where mistakes are not a failure but simply a sign that further work needs to be done. Achievement in performance is only rewarding when the student takes ownership of their playing, so I do everything I can to allow clarinet to be a real and positive presence in my students' lives. My teaching experience comes from my experiences and lessons from my previous private teachers. During my 10 years of lessons I learned that importance of a regularly maintained practice schedule leads to the most effective practice sessions. I try to encourage students of all ages to seek out music that they find enjoyable and I do what i can to shape my lessons to make learning the music exciting. I try to anticipate a students need. I adapt my methods individually for each student, based on their current level, needs, and interests. My emphasis is on making practicing fun while keeping the lessons challenging. The content of my lessons includes technique (efficiency of movement, injury prevention), creativity (cultivating ones own ideas, grooves, fills), as well as developing independence (coordination) and soloing. I always apply these and more concepts to practical use and have my students play along with music, which is the best way to learn an instrument. Read More
