I'm an enthusiastic and driven teacher who loves to help students realize their personal musical goals. In 2012, I graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition from Trinity University and in 2014, I earned an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. I've performed a wide variety of music with everyone from orchestras to pop and folk bands throughout my life. I've also consistently written my own music and performed it in a variety of settings, including recently completing a national US tour of my original songs. Read More

We like lessons to be fun and challenging. Sight reading abilities really help musicality and ability for spontaneity. Part of each lesson is spent on good posture, breathing and excellent practice methods. We slow down the difficult passages and get them played correctly. Attention to tone and a great armbiture are always kept in mind, as well as hand position and minimal movement as the songs and exercises are played. Read More

My approach to lessons is one that is customized to the student. I don't believe in a one size fits all method. I use the same material and books that have helped me improve as well as customizable methods for each student. These methods include: learning how to process information effectively, how to retain the information and also how to excecute that information at any moment. I also help with the psychology of music learning and performing which is often overlooked. Read More

I have been teaching since 2002. My first teaching job was at a small private school. I then moved on to teach six years at public high schools in Texas, and then I moved on to teaching at the University level. Throughout that time I have always had a private studio as well. Many of my students have gone on to be very successful in music.Having successful students motivates me to always teach great lessons. Read More

My lessons always start with a mix of theory based info and instrument technique. I don’t use books or any of that mumbo jumbo, because everything you need to know is free online. I will help guide your exploration in music, and I will encourage you to soak in information from musical sources other than myself. I will force you to listen to the music you want to study(doesn’t sound like bad hw to me), and eventually, I will help you construct your own ideas! Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my early college days, about twenty-two years ago. I have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last two decades. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for their instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy their instrument and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
