For all my saxophone students, I always start my lessons talking about sound and working on techniques of how to develop it and how to breath properly. The basics are always the foundation of everything else so even if you are an advanced student, you might be having some bad habbits in your instrument, so I always work on sound. I also work in articulation and how to sound as rhythmically perfect as possible. Read More

For any type of student, beginner or not, I focus on building the skills of the individual to create successes on their own. My goal is to provide the student with skills and abilities that not only will provide them with a fruitful musical life, but also allow them to transfer the ethics and habits to any other career. I also go in depth to reasoning and pedagogical reasoning for my explanations so that the student can engage in critical thinking and draw conclusions on their own. Read More

I'm a professional saxophone player based in Los Angeles. At the age of 10, I started playing saxophone because my parents were asking me if I was interested in music. I started my first saxophone quartet at the age of 12. I was accepted by Shanghai Conservatory of Music's Contemporary Music department in 2012 under the instruction of the jazz saxophone professor Xiaolu Zhang. I recently graduated from New England Conservatory in Boston, where I did my masters under the instruction of Jerry Bergonzi, Miguel Zenon and Donny McCaslin. Read More

I believe each indivdual deserves a teaching method that is as unique as their person. No two people are alike and as such no two individuals should be taught in the same manner. I take the student's musical interest and develop that interest into lesson plans that are both challenging and fun! There is so much music in the world to be explored and this music can be explored at any level! Read More

The best way of teaching is the one that makes your student develop a honest passion for music. While there's a core of exercises and practice routines that I teach to everyone, I have great respect for the peculiar interests of the single students and I introduce studies and repertoire that are close to their musical tastes and sensibility so that they'll feel accomplished and rewarded by realizing how their technical studies is helping them to play the music they love. With private students, I customize my teaching methods to how each student best learns. I have several methods to teach most music concepts and saxophone technique so that I can better connect with each student’s learning style. I find students have a more enjoyable experience when I give them the chance to learn what they would like to play. For jazz students, I first have them identify a musician they enjoy listening to and begin exploring what makes that player unique. Read More

I began teaching when I was in college around the age of 18. I started with a small group of only a few kids and later advanced to teaching over two dozen per week. I was also offered the position of saxophone instructor at my high school's band camp for three consecutive Summers. In that setting, I coached all 20 kids in a classroom at once and helped them on the field with memorizing their steps and music. Read More
