I'm a passionate and curious musician. I'm self-taught in the styles of classical and jazz from when I picked up the clarinet I found at a Salvation Army at the age of 10. I taught myself until I started college and studied with Kelly Lake, Stephanie Gardner, Jeff Quamo and Cris Inguanti at NAU. While working toward receiving my Masters in Clarinet performance at NAU, I taught music theory and aural perception at the undergraduate level. In addition to teaching I've had two pieces written and recorded for me along with a couple tracks on a comedian's recent albums. This alone can often be a deterrent to many students and their families who may not be able or willing to invest in all of this, and the student hasn't even begun playing yet! I believe this shouldn't be the case. Music educators must make it a priority to provide students in need with the same opportunity to enjoy music as their peers, and must do everything in their power to make sure that they have all of the resources and materials available in order for them to succeed. I had my first teaching experience working with elementary students as a private instructor during my senior year of high school. I continued to work with beginning and intermediate students throughout college teaching everything from beginning instruction to jazz improvisation. I am currently a band, strings and vocal music teacher in the Phoenix area where I rehease several groups and give lessons daily. my current students experience everything from classical to pop music and are encouraged to be as creative as possible.
