I enjoy playing with the student at times and I tend to move around frequently. This allows me to demonstrate styles while watching the student's enbouchure, posture, angles, and instrument position from every angle. I give praise when praise is due and motivation when I sense struggling! Read More

My methods of teaching are teaching what and how to practice. The basic ingredients in music are scales and chords and space. I am a firm believer of playing with a rhythm section from the beginning. Because of this, I use devices such as playing with tracks, myself, and other people. I provide audio and visual examples using recordings and videos. It is a myth that, with music, you either have it or you don't. Read More

I started teaching privately when I was in high school. I taught just a couple of kids and found it fun. I was a little busy to teach in college as I was concentrating on learning to be a professional saxophonist. My teachers include Doug Heath, Bob Seligson, Terry Autry, and Todd Goranson. I was able to learn at a relatively high level in school and continued that through grad school. Read More

In high school I had the great privilege of being selected as the Principal clarinetist in the Minnesota All-State Band. We performed at the summer camp designed for these groups and recreated our performance at Orchestra Hall, home of the Minnesota Orchestra, the following spring. Clarinet is my primary instrument and first love. I also teach saxophone and beginning flute and hope to add other woodwinds in the future. Piano has always been an important influence in my musical performances and I believe it is a gateway to interest in other instruments, so I truly enjoy teaching it! Read More

Originally from Dallas, TX, I was always interested in music but never thought of it as more than a hobby. I was a solo performer playing shows around the Dallas/Fort Worth area and in a popular Salsa band for years before I finally decided to get back into school and see where this musical journey would take me. In 2017, I graduated with honors from Fort Lewis College and finally in 2020 I received my Masters degree in Jazz Performance and Pedagogy from The University of Colorado-Boulder. Read More

For the beginners, hold a correct gesture, good handposition, or firm embouchure, and air support are some of the main requirements. When the students start to learn, adding upmore etude books, like Rubank Method, Rose Etude, Kell, Thompson, Byer, Just the Fact, Sonata, Concertos, Etudes...., and music from different genre would be presented at different timings. During the lessons, fine hand positions, great tone quality, good embouchure, fine posture and position would be the fundamental requirements and will be reminded at all time. Read More
