I am from a family of musicians and started my music lessons at a young age. I love playing the piano and have accompanied choirs, vocalists, bands, churches, etc. throughout my life. Other than the priceless enjoyment I have gotten out of being able to play the piano, my greatest pleasure has been teaching young and old how to play, appreciate and enjoy the piano instrument. Saxophone/flute: Any beginning band method book or standard beginning to intermediate woodwind book. Appropriate repertoire. Piano: I use most beginning methods, including Alfred, Bastien, Piano Adventures (Faber), and other standard piano methods. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with a method book in order to introduce finger numbers and good technique. We build more and more skills as time progresses. Depending on the student, we may depart from the method book and learn more substantial songs; I'm very good with adapting to the skill levels and strengths of each student. With older students, since they generally have a better feel for what songs/composers they like, I will give them more freedom to choose their own songs and work with them from there. Read More

The Piano Adventure Series is great because the song arrangements have tiered piano proficiency for beginner to intermediate players. After students work in these books, other repertoire can be added to perform for holidays and recitals.
