I completed a Masters Degree in Music (Saxophone Performance) with an emphasis in Jazz Studies in 2016 from the Lamont School of Music and have experience working with underprivileged students with varying income backgrounds. My teaching experience began in 2008, when I began teaching private lessons on various instruments, on voice, and on conducting. I later went on to teach band and choir at Cedar Bluff High School in 2011. After this, I volunteered as the band director at Valley Head High School in 2014. One of my 1st Grade Violin Students impressed the president of Columbia College of Music so much that my students were offered life-time scholarships to attend Blues Kid's Camp, held annually at Columbia College in Chicago. My methods differ for each instrument. For piano I will start with Alfred's basic piano course if the student is a beginner. It helps students visualize the basic techniques for sitting and playing the piano in a way that will prevent injury. From there we walk through the book until the student understands how the keys and reading music works. After this, I start to assign different songs and/or assignments that match the student's learning style and interest in music. Read More

My method varies for every student but I have a very specific plan for each level of experience. Beginners would focus on essential elements books and beginner packets that cover basics and also have rewarding solo pieces. More advanced students would focus on scales and long tones with etudes for fundamentals and repertoire for solo playing and performances.
