For beginners, I like to start with the Rubank method books, which progress pretty rapidly. I also focus on tone production and scales as we move along at the level of the individual student. I gauge the speed at which we move based on the student in question, and prepare a practice routine for each student based on how much time they have to practice each day. Once the student gets in track, I start introducing more advanced book such Rubank, J.H Luft, H.Klose and Feerling. After graduation, I was a successful band director in the DFW area for four years before returning to the private lessons world. I love teaching private lessons to students and watching them grow as musicians and people. In addition, I also serve the United States Army Reserve as a clarinetist in the 395th Army Band.
