For beginning students I focus on the fundamentals of playing a saxophone: Setting up your instrument, reading music, breath training, and embouchure. Once the student progresses to a bit higher level, we start with rudimentary songs that allow the student to work on playing full songs. For more musically experienced students new to saxophone, I still start with the same foundational training and set up, but have a more rapid approach to having them play full songs in genre's they enjoy. In the first lessons, I explain the the beginner students the basic functionality of the instruments, the proper way to hold the instruments, how to produce a clear sound from the instruments and a Major scale ascending and descending, the one from which the first lessons or the next lessons is written. If the students already had books from prior music instructor, we pick up from the last lessons after answering questions t o make sure the students thoroughly understand the lessons from the previous chapters and he or she is ready to proceed to the next lessons. Music has always been at the center of my life and has given me so much. My saxophone teacher in high school was an inspiration to me and propelled me into music in college. In college I learned more and more about classical saxophone, and it became my dream to make that my living. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Music from Florida State University, then continued my education locally at Florida International University to earn my Master of Music degree in Saxophone Performance. My experience with doing private lessons started when my last year at Bethune Cookman to earn a little extra cash in my pocket. I started out teaching beginning elementary students which sharpened up my skills for basic knowledge of the saxophone. As time progressed I started to teach intermediate student so that they can develop the tone and basic technique.
