I am very familiar with all of the standard piano methods, and will evaluate the student in the first few lessons to choose a method that they will be the most comfortable with. I supplement all lessons with music theory and outside repertoire, allowing the students to choose from their favorite genres/artists. For theatre, musical theatre, and vocal coaching, I also employ Linklater and Alexander techniques. I also really enjoy exposing students to styles, genres or artists that they might not be familiar with along with the history behind the music they're learning! Read More

My brother was our drummer, that's why I was able to develop some skills in drums as well. I also enrolled in violin lesson for a brief period of time out of curiosity. During college days, while juggling my time as a student, basketball varsity player, and as a pianist/organist in our church, I was suddenly intrigued on how to play saxophone, hence, I gave it a try and had my lesson in the same music school where I did my violin lesson. I have worked with students from elementary school through college as well as adults, and in addition to my private studio, I am also the resident woodwinds instructor at 3 community music schools in the LA area. My main aim as a teacher is to enrich the lives of my students, whatever their specific goals. Read More

I find piano such a wonderful tool for personal growth and I incorporate it into a healthy relaxing life. My number one priority with my teaching is to make sure the student first and foremost feels safe and has fun as they watch themselves grow to do things on the piano that translate on and off the bench. If you are student or parent with memories of the crabby old lady as a piano teacher that treated you horribly, I can assure you that one of my strengths is I cultivate very warm comforting relationships with my students! I like to play audio/recordings for the students when possible, so that the student has an idea of the style, or the piece that we are studying. This gives them something to reference to, but also gives them an aural aspect in their playing/practice habits. I also model for them constantly, so that they get more visual and aural reinforcement. I sometimes give them short music concept/vocabulary assignments, such as learning the names of the notes on the staff, counting rhythms, meters, etc; all having to do with music theory and musical concepts that can be directly applied to their practical aspect of playing.
