Of course, every student is different, and an integral part of my philosophy involves getting to know each student so that I may learn their creative preferences, strengths, and weaknessness. I do not shy away from books, I do indeed enjoy working out of the Hal Leonard collection because I appreciate the step by step structure. This may apply less to guitar, however, if the student's primary ambitions are to learn songs by Green Day or The Beatles, etc. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student progress, or better yet, develop a love for music. When my students succeed, I feel as though I have. I feel as though every student should progress at their own pace and music especially should not be something that stresses the student out (especially when it is art). I have had many teachers that were very old-fashioned and harsh in their ways and this can give the student a distaste for music. Read More

I've played piano and saxophone for over 25 years and studied jazz composition at Berklee College of Music. The teachers that I was fortunate enough to learn from as I grew up were so important in my musical development, and they kept me interested in continuing with music! I understand just how important specialized attention to talents and interests are in beginners and all other levels. So my focus is always trying to make sure my students are enjoying their instruments every step of the way, while providing the structure and expert assistance that will bring the progress that students need to experience. For beginning and intermediate students, I like to assign short pieces from method books such as Student Instrumental Course and Rubank. For more advanced students, I will help them explore their particular interests, introduce them to traditional repertoire, and for jazz/rock/pop students, aid them in the process of transcribing the music they love, which benefits their vocabulary as well as their ears. In developing a complete musician, I want to offer support for my students' other musical activities, as well as provide them with resources that they might not have elsewhere. Read More

Primarily, one must produce a high-quality sound out of the instrument. I use the widely-regarded Liebman method to help students produce a great sound out of the horn. Beginners and advanced students alike will focus on improving their sound while studying with me. I also relate everything back to the student's goals and their current skill level. If they are new to the instrument, we start with the basics and I have books that I recommend for this. Read More

I am a passionate and motivated teacher, who loves working with students of all ages. I am primarily a saxophone player, but love learning new instruments. In 2020, I graduated from UMass Lowell with a Bachelor’s in Music Studies. In 2022, I graduated with a Master’s in Music Education. I enjoy teaching and performing with the New England Youth Wind Ensembles in Lowell, MA. In these ensembles, I provide individual and group lessons to middle and high school students. Read More

I have been teaching over 8 years. I had the privilege to teach at a very young age at my teachers’ request. I tutored students who needed extra help, or had failed their exams. I taught oboe, piano, solfege, harmony and ear training. At the time, I didn’t know how much responsibility I was taking on. But, after seeing all of them pass, I realized I could do more than help them succeed in one class. Read More
