As a patient and understanding teacher, I have worked with students with Asperger's syndrome as well as students with severe ADHD. In my lessons, I emphasize consistent practice that is paired with consistent positive and encouraging feedback so that my students truly learn to grow not only as musicians, but as individuals. I am the best when the student has accomplished and satisfied the lesson's requirements. We can expound on the de tails but if they are not prepared, we will review the previous lesson so they don't miss the value of that lesson. My teaching style can best be described in a sentence: New concepts, new fingering, new harmony, new rhythm, new literature when first you find the letters from Piano Music then unscrambled these single letters until you can spell PIANO MUSIC which is a gift for all ages. I have taught privately since 2006, though occasionally I will take two students from the same household, church or neighborhood and pair them up in what is known as a "partner lesson". Each person takes turns at the piano playing their respective scales, repertoire etc. and we offer one another encouragement as well as constructive criticism for those technical issues in need of improvement. I do hold seasonal recitals during Christmas and spring seasons as an outlet for my students to showcase the songs and pieces they have learned throughout the year. Read More
